Holiday Potpourri Recipe

Holiday Potpourri Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried orange slices (or orange peel)

  • 1/2 cup dried apple slices

  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries

  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sticks (broken into smaller pieces)

  • 1/4 cup whole cloves

  • 1/4 cup dried star anise

  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary or pine needles

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for extra fragrance)

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional for a warm touch)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: If you're drying your own fruits, slice the oranges and apples thinly. Place them on a baking sheet and dry them in the oven at 200°F (93°C) for about 2-3 hours, flipping halfway through. Alternatively, you can use store-bought dried fruit. If you prefer fresh herbs, dry them by hanging them upside down or using a dehydrator.

  2. Combine the Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix all the dried ingredients together: orange and apple slices, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, rosemary or pine, and any optional spices like cinnamon or nutmeg.

  3. Add Essential Oils (Optional): For a more intense scent, add a few drops of your favorite holiday essential oils (like cinnamon, clove, or orange essential oil) to the mix. Stir well to distribute the oils evenly.

  4. Store or Display: Transfer the potpourri to a decorative bowl or jar and place it in your home. It’s perfect for the kitchen, living room, or entryway. Refresh the potpourri with more essential oils as needed for a lasting fragrance.

  5. Enjoy the Holiday Fragrance: The delightful combination of dried fruits, spices, and herbs will create a cozy, festive atmosphere. You can also keep the potpourri in a mesh bag and hang it in closets or place it in drawers for a subtle, year-round fragrance.

This natural holiday potpourri not only fills your home with the warm, comforting scents of the season but also adds a beautiful, rustic touch to your decor.
